Soon, it will be a busy and enjoyable time for many of us who will be looking forward to spending time with family and friends. It will also be a busy time for us at NGN, as we work to spread the word about our end of year fundraising campaign. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it is crucial to our mission and ability to continue to help children in Nepal who have been taken from their families and do not know if they will ever see them again.
That’s why I’m personally writing with a request that I’m hoping you will consider. We are currently building out our end of year fundraising campaign at NGN, and this year, we are facing a significant funding gap due to the increasing costs of operating as an INGO in Nepal and at the same time expanding our reach in remote areas in stopping trafficking before it starts.
This holiday season, we are calling on some of our most cherished friends and supporters – like you! – for their help. You have always been there for us when there is a need, and right now the need is great, as more traffickers are taking advantage of the desperateness of families and the high value of children being used illegally for profit.
Our goal is to raise at least $20,000 by the end of the year – hopefully more – to cover part of the funding gap and serve more children in Nepal. To do this, we are assembling a fundraising team of supporters who can help us get the word out about the work we do and our need for financial resources via our end of year campaign, Bring A Child Home.
The idea is that each person on our fundraising team will pledge to reach out to a minimum of 20-25 people in their network in order to meet a personal fundraising goal. We are recommending each person strive to raise $1,000, (but also want you to know that every little bit makes a big impact!)
To make this ask as easy as possible, we will provide you with a toolkit containing sample language (emails, letters, social media posts) and graphic images that you can use, as well as a sample timeline and tips and tricks that will help you ensure success. (For example, we recommend making each ask as personalized as possible, and framing it in a way that makes it easy for your friends to donate, such as asking them to give $3 per day (which is the cost of a cup of coffee!) each day in the month of December.)
We will also provide support to you as you assemble your list of contacts to reach out to. We’d encourage you to cast a wide net! Think of friends, family members, colleagues, social media contacts, members of your church or book club or fitness studio.
Please let me know what you think as soon as you can. We are looking to launch the campaign on December 1st, and will be providing team members with NGN’s campaign ToolBox later this week.
