All of us at NGN send our heartfelt wishes that you are well and that you are being cared for during this difficult time. We would also like to thank you for remembering the work we do and the need of support from you, our donors.
Nepal remains isolated from any services that we in the US have available such as home delivery, skilled and qualified health care workers, local and Federal government that will provide unemployment payments, tax payment delays, financial assistance for individuals and families. Nepalis have none of this. The only place that is safe for them is being home with their families.
We want you to be assured that even with these hardships, NGN’s work continues even during these difficult times. Children remain at risk as the challenge to feed them or hold them in orphanages becomes impossible to care for them. At times like this children become the most vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. We saw this after the earthquakes, and we will certainly see it now.
To quote an anonymous individual from Nepal:
“Supply chains have shut down. Employment is lost. They have no money to purchase essentials. And unlike the rich, they cannot afford to stock up. They buy on a daily basis but now the shelves are empty.”
The bulk of food supplies, propane, medicines in Nepal rely on India to transport goods, but the border is closed so even the most basic supplies are not arriving. The Nepali Rupee is losing its value and again the poor and children become very vulnerable to trafficking and abuse. The government is trying to keep people off the streets and in-home quarantine, but many Nepalis are desperate and need to go out for food, but without a pass they will be arrested and beaten. There is no health care infrastructure to speak of so there is no way to prepare for this calamity.
We are asking you now to please donate what you can. Help us continue our work so that this pandemic doesn’t also turn into an epidemic of child trafficking. Even in the midst of such uncertainty and fear, we all have the ability to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Everyone who donates will receive an end of the year tax letter with their total amount given for 2020. If you are Canadian please select your PayPal payment through NGN Canada which is below.

We Need Your Help

As of 2019, there are still 15,000 children living in abusive orphanages. 80% of these children are not orphans; they have families. Help us reunite them.
